Gibson LP Special SC TV Yellow

Questa è la mia quinta Les Paul (le altre sono un Studio H0 2016, una Tribute, una Slash standard anaconda burst ed una Classic 2020) …la prima con i P90. L’ho ordinata a metà novembre 2021 e, dopo vari e snervanti rinvii, è arrivata ieri 23 marzo 2022.
Sono stato più volte tentato di annullare l’ordine…mi infastidiva il tempo che passava senza avere lo strumento e quella voce che mi diceva :”ma alla fine hai altre 4 Les Paul…cosa cambierà mai con dei P90?”. La verità, invece, è che ho fatto bene a pazientare! La
Chitarra è arrivata perfettamente imballata ed è bellissima e priva di qualsiasi tipo di imperfezione e/o difetto. Appena aperta la custodia ho dovuto solo sistemare un po’ l’accordatura ed ho potuto subito suonarla perché è arrivata perfettamente settata. Che dire…è una Les Paul completamente diversa da quelle che ho! È molto più leggera ed i P90 hanno un suono pieno, caldo ed allo stesso tempo potente. Ci si può fare di tutto…dal blues, al rock, al punk fino allo stoner. Non mi sono ancora avventurato in territorio metal..ma sinceramente non vedo questa chitarra molto a suo agio in quel contesto. Il manico è a metà strada tra il vintage 50 della Slash Standard ed il C della Tribute ma è molto confortevole: la chitarra si lascia suonare e, soprattutto, ti invoglia ad osare. Intendiamoci…questa Les Paul non è migliore di quelle che ho già (in particolare della Slash Standard e della Classic )…ma è sullo stesso piano (altissimo) a livello qualitativo, vantando un prezzo più che corretto e ritagliandosi un proprio spazio autonomo proprio per la sua stupenda diversità. Ne consiglio l’acquisto a tutti e ringrazio Thomann del perfetto settaggio dello strumento e della cura dimostrata (ancora una volta) nella spedizione.

This is probably the best Les paul I have ever owned. And I have owned a few including custom shop models. This was perfect right out of the box from Thomann.

Use: Anything from Jazz to punk to hard rock.
Sound: You can so easily dial in the perfect sounds with this. The p90 pickups are just mental. That you have both bridge and neck pickup gives this guitar a whole lot of possibilities.

Pros: Excellent sounds, really easy to play. Fantastic color and lacquer. Casecandy with picture of guitar from Gibson factory. Vintage style casing.

Cons: Cant honostly think of any.

If you are looking for a les paul, and like the p90s, look no further.

I read a lot of good reviews on this guitar here and watched a lot of reviews on Youtube. Decided to go for it - you never know when there will be a price increase, etc. It was also an easy justification for myself since this has P90 pickups, meaning that it will have a different sound than any of the other guitars I have.

Quality: I am impressed with the current Gibson quality. They are setup and play fantastically right out of the box. Mine had a tiny chip in the nitro on the back of the headstock. But this is nitro, so it will get more of these chips in the future - just not perfect when you see it on a brand new gloss finish.

Sound: it sounds perfect with a fuzz. Creamy and soft growl. Mmmmm. The noise, however, is quite unbearable - I will change the pickups to a noiseless option in the near future. I do that on all of my single coil guitars, so that was to be expected from me. These are even more noisier than any Fender pickups - must be due to the higher output of the p-ups. Some people will have no issues with that.

Features: I can't believe that this guitar is so cheap (for a Gibson):
It has the heritage
It comes with a case
It has 2 pickups - 4 control dials
The bridge is a single piece, wrap around - I was worried that it could be an issue, but I really don't notice that when playing. It is perfectly in tune and intonated. The string action is low and the bridge is adjustable.
The TV Yellow is the most beautiful choice they offer, and also the cheapest. Wow!
Yes, it has the dot inlays only.
Yes, it doesn't have the carved maple top.That makes it thinner and weigh less. Many, many people will see that as a plus.

It is just beautiful. The rosewood on the one I received is even darker than the one on my 2025 standard. But that can be different for you, of course.

I have been looking for old-school P90 LP Special for a long time, but was not willing to part with amount needed to take home Custom Shop model. Finally after reading a lot of reviews and trying a bunch of Gibson USA Original Collection LP Specials myself I've pulled the trigger here at Thomann. One of my best guitar purchases! Flawless execution, that lemony semitransparent finish on quality mahogany, nice fat 50s style neck exactly how I like it, well setup straight off the box - and The Sound. I do usually tinker with my guitar electronics, here I have no reason yet. Thank you people at Thomann!
