Very interesting book that covers a lot of ground! It was very easy to download the audio files and start playing along.

Jamey Aebersold is the classic jazz play-along improvisation primer. I found it a great start, especially the play-along exercises. Even better when used along with the Yamaha Silent Brass system. Perfect for the those late-nioght jam sessions when you don't have anyone to jam with and don't want to wake up the neighborhood. My only point of criticism is that the introduction and instructions are rather dense - it takes a bit of work to get into the book and get started with the playing. However, it isn't necessary to master all the theory before tackling the play-along exercises. All in all, a most useful accessory for the trumpet player who wants to learn jazz improvisation.

I couldn’t use it until I google and found some additional teaching guideline on the internet. Could still not start until I found Jamey Aebersold himself on YouTube taking me through the initial stages.

Dieses Buch ist an all diejenigen gerichet, welche Improvisationen über verschiedenen Stile erlernen möchten. In diesem Buch, welcher auf Englisch verfasst ist (man sollte also dem Englischen mächtig sein), sind Übungen und Beispiele sowohl für C- als auch für Bb- und Eb-Instrumente notiert.

In diesem Heft wird nicht nur einfach Theorie vermittelt, sondern vielmehr durch die Übungen über verschiedene Jazz und Bluestonleitern dem Übenden die Möglichkeit geboten nicht nur Jazzimprovisationen zu erlernen, sondern auch seinen eigenen Improvisations Stil zu finden. Es handelt sich hier sicherlich um ein Standdardwerk.

Die Stücke auf der CD sind gut mitzuspielen, da sie in einem adäquaten Temp vorliegen. Zudem taugt dieses Werk zum verfeinern der Artikulation. Insgesamt ist das Buch sein Geld wert und hilft einem oft weiter.
