The AKG D19 for the people

I have wanted an AKG D19 for years, they have become too expensive and are now impossible to repair, so buying an original is not practical for most recording engineers. Thank you Warm Audio for producing this superb microphone. It's a beautifully made mic, has a nice weight to it. It comes with a clip and a soft bag.
So far I have used in on a mono drum overhead, snare drum, vocals, guitar cabinet, a room mic for Leslie speaker, even cabasa. I have found it to be an excellent character mic. It's not the best mic for recording everything but it will help when you are looking for that vintage character.
My only regret is not buying two of them. In fact I will probably eventually buy two or three more as they will work great on top and bottom snare and toms.

Really well built mic and it sounds amazing. It's by far the best dynamic mic I've used. It is warm with a clear high end and characteristic mids. Would heavily recommend

I bought it as I love microphones, especially dynamic mics, but wasn’t wowed by it.
If you want an allround “beatle dynamic” I think you’re much better of buying the shure 545 SD.

ich war zugegebenermaßen Skeptisch

letzte Woche kam es endlich an. Ich war sehr skeptisch, da ich in einem Forum über eine starke Anhebung im 2k Bereich gelesen hatte und die Kollegen nicht begeistert waren...es wurde mit zwei D19 und einem M201 dort verglichen. Ich hab das Mikrofon bis jetzt nur als Mono Overhead zusätzlich zu meinen Stereo-AB Overheads getestet und war erst mal erschrocken über den Sound den es Solo abgehört präsentierte...aber in Mix, da glänzte es genau mit dieser leichten Hochmitten Anhebung...genau das fehlte mir zu einem ausgewogenen Drumsound. Ich habe es gleich gegen ein paar dynamische Kandidaten aus meinem Fundus antreten lassen und muss sagen, es gefällt mir ziemlich gut! Ich habe kein original D19 zum Vergleich, aber für den Preis finde ich es ziemlich gut. Hat auf jedenfall einen eigenen Charakter diese WA19.
