Seymour Duncan SH-15 BK Alternative 8

Well, to say this is one of THE coolest pickups out there doesn't do it justice. Modern tone and LOADS of oomph. Stuff it through a high gain amp and mana. Roll off the volume and you have a huge amount of dynamic range. Unlike active pickups, you retain the character of your guitar. Great clarity and strong mids that cut through.

I've now put these in several of my guitars as they are now my pickup of choice.

Using a Rivera K-tre amp; a match made in heaven.

I bought this Humbucker for my Ibanez GIO 60. After checking several humbuckers from Seymor Duncan, I decided to try this one. The sound of the original Humbucker fitted in my guitar is really disappointing. It sounds like a bass which is trying to be a guitar. So I wanted more highs (my preferential sound is Alternative/Punk-Rock). After receiving it (after 2 days, which is the standard-Thomann-perfectness) I went to my preferred guitar-store to change it on my guitar.

After playing the first chord I knew: This is it! I must admit I'm a layman concerning things like sound-improvement etc. But this new sound is no comparison to the old.

It sounds full, and also the notes while playing solos sound more clear, present and sustained.

For those who are interested in: I play a Line 6-Spider Valve guitar-tubeamp. I know that the sound changes, dependent which amp is used. But it sounds also great on my Marshall M15 (15 watt) practise-amp.

The quality is as good as always.

I recommend this hubucker to those, who want to have a present sound with more highs and don't want to spend much money.

This is the greatest pickup for metal in my opinion! Most of great pickups has largest low freq and less mids, this on its mid and high freq focused. To get a great tight n punchy sound through an amp you may need a booster with a regular pickup low mids/ bass focused. With this one you can gig straight in without booster in to amp and get tight and punchy distortion and saturation. Perfect choose for hard rock or metal sound. Quality as always great!
