Origin Effects Cali76 V2 Stacked Compressor

I got this compressor for a Rickenbacker 12-string and it does the job superbly. With other compressors I've often wondered if they were doing anything much. Well, wonder no more. This is peak compression. Knobs all feel smooth and solid.

I'm not clear on what compression actually is, even after reading all the explanations. I just think of it as making the sound juicy. I set the first attack/release knob at max (knob on bottom-right, turned full left) and the second (bottom-left) at about 12 o'clock. With the orange knob at about 11 o'clock. Max input, output 12 o'clock, and a little dry signal around 9 o'clock. I'll just leave it there now. Perfect squish. More jangly than a tambourine man 8 miles high.

I previously used a Keeley plus compressor and just couldn’t get the tone or dial it in to how I’d have like… in terms of an ‘always on compressor’ within minutes of using this I had it dialled into the exact tone I wanted. Everything rolled back slightly from 12. Also by dialling the dry up to about 3 o clock it just gives the amp that little bit more of a push. It’s expensive but you’ll never have to replace it when you get it.

Llevo unas semanas con el y se necesita tiempo para sacarle todo. Lo he puesto en mi cadena de pedales y amplificador y ha mejorado todo un cien por cien. Solo tenerlo en la mano asusta, es el pedal más bonito y técnico que he tenido jamás en mis manos. Solo o acompañado es como tener un técnico de sonido a tu lado. Sin duda de momento es el pedal que más me a sorprendido, siempre on, no tener un compresor de esta gama es una gran equivocación. IMPRESIONANTE.

Erst war ich skeptisch, ob der hohe Preis für einen Compressor wirklich gerechtfertigt ist. Aber diese Pedal ist anders. Es ist mMn. weniger ein Effekt, der viele Einstellungsmöglichkeiten diverser Klangwelten ermöglicht (wie es manch andere Compressoren vermögen), sondern vielmehr ein sound-shaper, der den ursprünglichen Klang des Instruments (bzw. der gesamten Signalkette) einfach um die letzten paar Prozentpunkte in die richtige Richtung komprimiert. Ich weiß nicht, wie ich es anders sagen soll, aber mit dem Gerät vor der Gitarre klingt einfach alles besser. Sei es im cleanen, jazzigen Bereich, oder auch bei vintage orientieren Brecher-Sounds, von Blues bis hard ‘n‘ heavy. Im Bandkontext macht sich das Ganze dann noch mal mehr bemerkbar, da die Gitarre im Mix noch mal deutlich an Präsenz gewinnt, ohne in irgendeiner Weise aufdringlich zu klingen. Archtop, Strat oder Paula lieben das Gerät gleichermaßen. Ich kam bisher zwar immer mit meinem Boss CS 3 klar und empfinde den Cali76 schon als Luxus-Gerät, aber ich denke er muss wohl hier bleiben!
