Neumann KM185 mt

J'ai acquis cette version hypercardio pour une utilisation en perche (film/docu). Couplé à un préamp SoundDevice, dans une Rycote - avec le Connbox - il ne souffre d'aucun bruit de manipulation, à condition tout de même de filtrer l'extreme bas (60hz suffit...).
Niveau son, c'est chaleureux, c'est doux, ça sonne, il n'y a aucun soucis de ce côté.
Par contre, il dispose d'un niveau de sortie assez faible (comparé à du shoeps, du 416, etc...). Du coup, il vous faut du bon preamp pour une utilisation digne de ce nom. Mon SoundDevice est déjà limite. Le souffle arrive "assez" vite.
Sa directivité hypercardio est bien pratique pour percher de près. Plus large qu'un lobe, elle permet de ne jamais rater l'acteur. Le son est hyper... naturel, lorsque l'acteur bouge la tete ou se déplace, le timbre ne change tout simplement pas. Les reverbérations de la pièce ne sont absolument pas détimbrées, ce que je trouve très important. En comparant avec un 416 par exemple, il est parfait pour percher de loin, mais dans une pièce réverbérante, la couleur du son devient vite assez horrible (ça reste un excellent micro, sûrement mon prochain d'ailleurs).
Conclusion : pour le tarif, c'est un excellent investissement.

One of the best microphones for Dialog in the under 1000 Euro segment. They are not as popular as they should be. One mics that it is often compared too (basically same price) is the Sanken cs m1, and here the difference is night and day, the Sanken is not even close to the fineness and dynamic of the neumann, and is definitifly the better choice. There is even a Cinela Cosi option for the neumann, which I recommend.

I prefer a clean sound, and as I often record in 32-Bit, it gives me that space to make the best out of it in post. It works well indoors, and has a really clean off axis sound, especially compared to similar super cardioid models from Sennheiser or Schoeps. I feel like the Neumann is giving up the ultra tight high-end sound of only Dialog, basically what Sennheiser and Schoeps do, and gives room for better ambiance. Its like the others are tuned primarily for voices, while the Neumann is, as Neumanns usually are, very neutral in any way. Want to record Dialog? No Problem. Want to record a Piano? No Problem. Want to record ambience? No problem. If you want to do that with the others, it will not have an overall good sound in any department.

That said, if you have a ton of money to spend on Mics for Dialog, you don't need this. If you are on Budget and want a mic that can do more then indoor Dialog, this is the one.

Ich habe mir das KM185 gekauft für Livekommentare bei Twitch Streams. Leider fängt es aber ca. 30cm vom Mund zu viel Hall auf - mein Raum ist zwar "unbehandelt", hat aber immerhin ein Sofa drin, einen dicken Teppich und Möbel in den Ecken, bisher war ich mit dem Hall bei "Close Miking" von Sprachaufnahmen eigentlich immer sehr zufrieden und hatte keine Probleme.

Anders dagegen bei der Aufnahme einer Geige aus ca. 30cm Entfernung: hier ist der Klang glasklar, das Mikrofon kriegt jedes Schrammeln mit und offenbart jeden Spielfehler unbarmherzig. Da die Geige etwas Raumklang braucht und vollkommen "dry" schnell langweilig klingt, war hier auch der Hall OK.

Ein Nachteil ist das schwache Signal: Bei Sprachaufnahmen musste ich den Gain am Scarlett 2i2 auf mindestens 9,5 und hatte dann Rauschen, bei der Geige reichte 8,5-9. Totzdem braucht man zwingend einen Vorverstärker. Ich besitze bereits einen TritonAudio FetHead Germanium, mit dem ging das allerdings nicht, weil der die Phantom Power nicht durchleitet.

Negativ ist mir die billige Verpackung aufgefallen - bei einem Mikrofon für fast 800 € kriegt man anderswo ein nettes Holzkästchen und einen Stoffbeutel für das Mikrofon, nicht eine Pappschachtel und eine Plastiktüte.
