Bearing in mind you have to make this up yourself, which means you’re involved which is nice, it nevertheless leads the product to be slightly overpriced. I still like it though…

Good combination with the West Pest

The Mavis is a simple but great sounding Eurorack voice, rather than a standalone synthesizer, which I suspect is the reason for the relatively low price.
I got this as a companion for my West Pest, and it works great for that, adding a ladder filter and an ADSR to the very basic, but great sounding West Pest. I wish it had a few more patch points, so you could use the filter and the VCA separately for example, but in the context of enhancing the West Pest it works perfectly.

Müsste ich mich für einen einzigen Synth entscheiden, wäre es ganz klar der Mavis. Der typische Moog-Sound ist am Start. Die Filter erinnern ebenfalls an die grösseren Modelle, man hat in dieser Hinsicht nie den Eindruck, mit einer minderen Version eines Moog zu arbeiten. Einzig bei der Anzahl der Features merkt man den Preis. Wobei man mit Patchen sehr viel rausholen kann, zum Beispiel ist dann auch ein Wave Folder aktiv, das finde ich eigentlich spektakulär, bei diesem Preis. Die Mothers haben das auf jeden Fall nicht. Weiter kann man durch Patchen mit anderen Geräten unglaubliche Effekte und Sounds herausholen, der Mavis bietet sich also an, für wenig Geld sein bisheriges System kräftig aufzumotzen. Andere mögen bei mir kommen und gehen, aber Mavis bleibt.
