Last year, I was tempted to part with £499 (around €560) on a Squier Classic vibe custom with Bigsby, but wasn’t convinced by the reviews that it was worth spending that amount, when I only play for my own amusement at home.
On seeing Harley Benton’s TE 62 DB tremolo guitar, at just over a third of the price, I thought it was worth the risk and I was not disappointed!
The basic HB 62 guitars are excellent in their own right, and the “ Bigsby style tremolo unit is well made, and works relatively well, although it would benefit by the provision of a “ softer “spring, something akin to the Reverend Softer spring used on their models with a Bigsby type tremolo system, and if possible, as the strings all travel through small holes in the ashtray bridge, to ensure that there is no “ pinging” sound when using the tremolo arm, the holes should be drilled slightly larger to prevent the string touching the ashtray bridge in use!.
Ideally the guitar would benefit from a flatter ashtray and separate roller bridge, but this may require a radically different set up increasing the price.

Finition au top ce noir profond avec ce binding creme est juste trop beau. Le vibrato bigsby très agréable à l'utilisation egalement et la telecaster garde son caractere avec les pontets en laiton. J'avais un peu peur avec les mécaniques vintage mais l'accordage tient très bien aussi. Manche 50's en D plutot large et fat, perso jaime beaucoup. Je recommande vivement et merci encore à Thomann

Tolle Tele mit einem Konstruktionsfehler

Wollte immer mal eine Telecaster haben. Als ich dann die Bigsby-Version von Harley Benton sah, musste ich zugreifen…
Wirklich erstaunlich, wie gut die Gitarre für so wenig Geld ist: Gute Verarbeitung, toller Sound und ein angenehmes Spielgefühl. Der Hals liegt super in der Hand.
Einziges Manko ist das Bigsby. Es ist leider nicht stimmstabil. Kann es auch nicht sein, weil ein klassisches Ashtray-Bridgecover verbaut wurde. Die Saiten werden daher vom Bigsby kommend durch die Saitenhalter des Ashtrays geführt, wodurch es natürlich zu einem Kontakt der Saiten mit den Löchern kommt, der zu Reibung führt, die dann für die fehlende Stimmstabilität beim Bigsbygebrauch verantwortlich ist.
Es gibt extra Bridgecover für Telegitarren mit Bigsby, die extra keine Saitenhalter haben, damit die Saiten ohne Probleme zu der Bridge geführt werden können. Die hätten verbaut werden müssen. Ich habe mir jetzt so ein Teil bestellt und werde meine Gitarre damit bestücken, weil man sonst das Bigsby nicht nutzen kann.
Ansonsten kann ich die Gitarre empfehlen. Bin von den Pickups echt positiv überrascht.
