Hammond SK PRO

The Hammond SK PRO has quickly become one of the most inspiring stage keyboards I’ve ever played. From its expressive sound engine to its performance-oriented features, this instrument delivers professional quality that truly stands out.

First and foremost, the classic Hammond tone is unmistakable and deeply authentic. The B-3 style drawbar voices, rotary speaker effects, and rich harmonic depth give it an organic feel that breathes and responds like a real vintage organ. Whether running through onboard effects or external amps, the character remains bold and musical — not overly processed or synthetic.

The keybed is comfortable and responsive, with a feel that suits both organ playing and general keyboard work. It strikes a great balance: solid and reliable for fast drawbar runs, yet smooth enough for expressive chord work and transitions.

One of the SK PRO’s biggest strengths is its versatility for live performance. The layout is intuitive, with dedicated controls that make sound shaping immediate and hands-on — exactly what you want on stage when creativity should never be interrupted by deep menu dives. The integration of effects like vibrato/chorus, rotary simulation, and EQ is superb, giving real performance impact without complexity.

Sound quality across the board — not just organ — is excellent. The piano, electric piano, and synth tones are well sampled, full-bodied, and blend beautifully with the classic organ sounds, making the SK PRO a true all-around performance instrument.

Overall, the Hammond SK PRO delivers both authenticity and modern playability. It’s ideal for gigging musicians who want real organ feel and tone, plus the flexibility to cover multiple styles without compromise. I highly recommend it to anyone serious about performance keyboards.

Während der Tonewheel-Sound des Vorgängers (SK1) bereits sehr realistisch war, die übrigen Klänge wie Piano und Strings aber eher abfielen und meines Erachtens nicht mit den Konkurrenten (Nord, Yamaha etc.) mithalten konnten und eher als nettes Beiwerk daher kamen, hat sich hier eine deutliche Verbesserung eingestellt. Die Pianosounds zB. sind aufgewertet, klingen um einiges realistischer und klarer. Der zusätzliche Monosynth ist noch eine willkommene Ergänzung on top. Dass aber auch die Hammond-Sounds eine Stufe höher angesiedelt sind, ist schon bemerkenswert - der Anschlag mit den "virtuellen Tastenkontakten" gibt nochmals ein verbessertes Spielgefühl und der Klang kann von völlig sanft und zahm bis "rotzig-frech-schmatzend" variieren. Toll! Das Leslie klingt sehr gut. Die Möglichkeit, 4 Engines (Tonewheel, Piano, Ensemble und Monosynth) gleichzeitig abzurufen, ermöglicht in Zusammenhang mit den Favourite-Tasten große Freiheiten beim schnellen Umregistrieren und Soundwechsel. Die Tastatur spielt sich waterfall-typisch gut. Wer noch am Klang schrauben will, findet auch mehr Möglichkeiten als beim Vorgänger. Der war bereits gut -dieses Keyboard ist aber besser!

Hammond SK PRO koupený od firmy Thomann používám doma. V mládí jsem toužil po zvuku Hammond tak, jak ho vytvořil Jon Lord. Až v pokročilejším věku jsem si dopřál nejprve SK 1 a nyní i SK PRO. Oba nástroje mě nadchly, ovšem nové SK PRO posunuly zvuk o jednu třídu výše. Hutný zvuk s vylepšenou funkcí overdrive dává zapomenout, že hraji na nástroj, který odnesu v jedné ruce. Také vestavěný Leslie efekt je přirozenější než u předchozích SK1. Výborné ostatní zvuky - klavíry, smyčce a nově i syntezátor mě inspirují k novým nápadům. Drobnou výtku mám k ovládání. Oproti předcházejícím SK1 postrádám některé ovladače na ploše: intenzita funkcí overdrive, speciálních efektů a ekvalizéru. Menší jsou tlačítka nejpoužívanějších funkcí. Věřím ale, že by i Jon Lord uvítal nový SK PRO, který si díky výborném službám firmy Thomann mohu užívat také já.
