Ein Wolf ist die Überlagerung von zwei Frequenzen, die den Ton quasi auslöschen oder anders gesagt, sich die Energie nehmen.
Da ein Wolf kein Fehler in einem Cello ist sondern ein Zeichen dafür, dass es sehr resonant ist und super schwingt, sollte der Wolf auch nicht als Makel bezeichnet werden. Aber manchmal ist es einfach zu viel ....
Man kann den Wolf mit dem Bogen packen, indem man näher am Steg streicht und tief in die Saite einsteigt.
Oder man kann die Korpusresonanz, die das Problem auslöst, killen. Wie, steht gut in der Anleitung beschrieben und man kann das Plättchen ersteinmal von außen mit dem mitgelieferten Knet aufbringen, bis das gewünschte Ergebnis erreicht ist.
Ist man zu zweit, dann kann die zweite Person genau die Stelle im beschriebenen Radius erfühlen, wo die größte Vibration ist.
Reinleimen muss es dann ein Geigenbauer, da wohl kaum jemand das nötige Werkzeug dafür zu hause hat.
Mit dieser Maßnahme wird das Cello auch ein Stück harmloser, der Ton zahmer, über alle Lagen hinweg.
Darüber sollte man sich im Klaren sein!!!!
Wer das nicht möchte, der kann den auch bei Thomann angebotene LUPX testen. Da dem keine Beschreibung beiliegt, habe ich unter dem Artikel die Anwendung beschrieben.
Mit dem LupX bleibt der Ton auf jedenfall spannender und formbarer.

This has saved me from my daily wolf challenges.
I have tried a lot of cello wolf eliminators that are attached on the strings.
They all work fine, and diminish the wolf. But at the same time also muting the instrument a bit, and somehow simply spreading the wolf tone out on one or two other tones.
This 'Dictum Wolf Resonator' just works perfectly. The overall resonance of the instrument is intact, and the wolf is gone without affecting other tones.
You have to move it around on the cello to find the right spot. The detailed instructions that come with it explains.
