Evh 5150 Iconic 40W 1x12 Combo BK

I'll start with the cons:
The grill grate is slightly crooked, on one side it seems to be slightly indented. However, the box was not damaged.
There is no headphone output.
When you turn on the overdrive on the first channel, the volume increases by 3 times. At the same time, there is no such thing on the second channel even with the Burn mode.

Pros:
in general, good build quality, everything looks solid and does not cause pretensions.
Great sound.
Best value for money. Tube 1x12" combo with signature fat sound like older models.

Review:
Despite minor cosmetic blunders, the overall feeling is that of a solid workhorse. The sound is excellent, after replacing the speaker with the G12M 20W 15Om it became even better. It was bought as a replacement for my 5150 III, since the older model is already very loud in the apartment. It's basically the same problem here. The combo is very loud, although if you keep the volume just below one, you can achieve sane values. My recipe is to set the volume to the very minimum and turn it on at all 40W mode - the sound will be acceptable for residential premises and more saturated than turning it 1/4 mode (10W).

This amp replaced a Peavey 6505+112 which I loved but I was seeking higher gain tones without having to depend on pedals. The Iconic 5150 looks sharp, its enclosure really stands out yet blends in too. The Iconic has a nice clean channel that, when pushed, goes into from a light to wild crunch. Then you get to that red channel and OMG, it's everything what I need. Super high gain that can be pushed into higher gain with "burn" and "boost" controls too. What I love in this amp is insane tone, flexibility, yet simplicity, build quality seems solid,
What I don't like, the noise gate, You can activate it but expect to put another in the loop too

Bonjour , j'ai acheter ce EVH 5150 Iconic Combo car je voulais un ampli à lampes typé High gain , et bah je suis pas du tout déçu ! Cet ampli a une tonne de gain , il ne fait pas dans la dentelle il a vraiment le son typique du 5150 original , je trouve juste le haut parleur un peu harsh mais ça sonne !! j'ai , il y a quelques temps changer le haut parleur EVH custom spécialement créer pour cet ampli par un HESU Demon et LA C'EST UNE MACHINE DE GUERRE !!! L'ampli prends toute sa dimension avec ce haut parleur , Ola Englund lui avait mis un Celestion Greenback dedans et ça lui allait aussi très bien ! je pense que le haut parleur d'origine est pas le meilleur pour cet ampli pas mauvais mais trop creusé dans certaines fréquences médium , c'est une affaire de goût mais si vous le laissez d'origine , vous en serez content ! je reprocherais le noise gate un peu léger mais il a le bonheur d'être là et travail pas mal avec autant de gain .le footswitch permet de passer du canal green (clair lol) au canal red (saturé ) et d'activer ou pas le boost ! en canal green si tu pousse le gain tu as carrément de la grosse distortion !! propre est précise (attention le noisegate n'agit pas sur ce canal !) elle est assez propre dans le signal heureusement . le red c'est metal ou rien ! bref cet ampli est un must have il est le plus abordable des 5150 et le fait qu'il est un switch pour couper la puissante de 40 à 10 w permet de pas s'embrouiller avec les voisins ! et en mode 10 watts le son est là y'a aucune inquiétude !
