Asian Sound HAPI Slim A Akebono

Until very recently, I had no idea about even the existence of these instruments. On discovering them, I listened to a great many video/audio clips before deciding on the scale I wished to play. Not an easy task as they all sounded really beautiful. The Akebono Scale has a distinct 'eastern' sound, very meditative. I sensed that I would be able to create a decent sound using the hammers but I really wanted to be able to 'connect' with my drum by using my hands.

The drum arrived very quickly and was well packaged. It is a thing of simple beauty. Very tactile in its finish and very sturdy. The sound made by the mallets is really lovely and potentially very loud. I did not get the hang of the hand techniques straight away and was slightly disappointed.....but after a few days of perseverance and not as much 'effort,' I was able to produce a much better sound which was very rewarding! I feel I will be able to improve this with even more practice.

I must also add that it is very relaxing experience and completely calms the mind. It is also very addictive and so easy just to pick up at any time. I can see myself taking it to family and friends gatherings and am already planning a camping holiday with a group of like minded friends with musical interests. Thanks for your service.

Ich kann einfach nicht die Finger davon lassen. Das Experimentieren und das weiterentwickeln von Techniken hört nie auf und geschieht wie von selbst. Ich persönlich finde den Sound der Slim drums von Hapi am besten, auch wenn das Hapi Ufo natürlich noch etwas gewaltiger klingt. Besonders schön finde ich diese "Plattform" in der Mitte, die einen wunderschönen ergänzenden Klang hat. Hört sich für mich an wie Wassertropfen auf Metall. Der ist bei den Hapi Mini Drums und dem Ufo leider nicht dabei.Die Stimmung muss natürlich jeder selber wählen, für mich war A-Akebono die beste Wahl, da sie ein bisschen mystisch klingt und E-moll, A-moll u.s.w. für mich Standard Stimmungen sind.
Im Vergleich zu einem Hang drum sind die Hapi drums auch sehr günstig.

Ich bin wirklich froh, dass dieses Instrument mein Musikerleben so bereichert.
