Haven't installed these yet but just feeling the connector when I took it out of the package it feels high quality, the pins are all potted in place for waterproofing and the connector comes with a combined gasket and port cover piece that fits perfectly. The pins are designed for installation into a PCB as they all extend to the same distance from the back of the connector but I believe it will be easy enough to solder wires onto the back of them with a little patience and strain relief. It fits into a standard XLR patch panel from the front but not from the rear (although may be possible with some adjustment to the panel) and sticks out a rasonable amount.

Overall, I'll definitely be purchasing these again for any further DMX port needs.
