Sandberg Basic 5 Eby VB FL

I opened the gig bag and was instantly impressed by the finish. It took me about 30 seconds to check the action and general set up and conclude that without a doubt, this bass is a high quality product from a manufacturer that still cares about giving the customer the best it can for the money.

I could have literally taken the bass and gigged with it immediately, it was still in tune (!!!!!) and as if I’d set it up myself in the factory, nothing to adjust. I just sat and played for a couple of hours.
Having a single pickup isn’t an issue as the bass, mid and treble controls easily nail pretty much everything I need. The pick-up is positioned a good distance away from the bridge so the tone isn’t strident.
The fingerboard is an outstanding piece of ebony which, on closer inspection, appears to have been pleked. Not that there’s any traces of machining left to see but measured with a straight edge, it is totally uniform across the surface.
Playability is superb, can’t speak on other Sandberg because this is my first but I’m pretty certain I see a fretted version in my future.
I would certainly recommend these basses to anyone, total solid quality
