Nux Mighty Bass 50BT

An astonishing amount of clever processing goes into persuading a single 6.5” driver to produce such volume and depth from this lightweight package. But if it’s important to be able to play along to backing tracks, you need to be aware that none of that clever processing is applied to the aux-input, which consequently sounds really strangled. More important, I didn’t find it easy to achieve a clean ‘acoustic’ sound from my electric upright bass. You will say I should have bought something less sophisticated without smart-arse modelling and a phone app. Indeed. And that’s what I’m going to do.

Great little bass practise amp especially for solo practice at home with the potential to annoy your neighbours. Initially I was a little disappointed with the unit having less practise drums than its little cousin I had been previously using (the mighty plug pro) and hoped that would be rectified with a firmware update only to find out there hasn’t been any since 2021. However the unit does function perfectly the effects and virtual pedals are bass instrument specific and can produce some crazy sounds. I soon got over the missing practice drums and was able to record some drum jam tracks to play through the app instead. I’m a uk customer and it first came supplied with a euro two pin plugged kettle lead for the power supply, Thomann costumer service responded to my email the same day and dispatched a 3 pin uk alternative instantly 👍. The amplifier comes with a shed load of features, has decent build and sound quality, is loud for such a small size. The accompanying mighty amp app is itself updated regularly, very comprehensive, and easy to use. The app can be downloaded and explored before purchasing the unit. In summary it’s a great little amp which is versatile compact and really handy, a little on the heavy side for carting around but it’s grown on me, used daily at home, it’s a keeper!

Comme d'habitude, livraison Thomann impeccable, embllage soigné, etc... (un petit bémol concernant UPS qui livre un peu quand il a envie, après t'avoir changé 2 fois les dates et heure de livraison... Du coup il m'ont fait livrer par une charmante conductrice contre qui je ne pouvais évidemment pas proférer le moindre son, tellement elle était jolie et souriante)...
Concernant le matériel, les possibilités de cet ampli sont incroyables, sons de basses affinés en fonction de la guitare, compresseur, effets, tout y est !
J'ai même programmé un canal pour ma guitare électro-acoustique, ça fonctionne super bien. Les simulations (pas assez d'amplis à mon goût, ni de rythmes intégrés, mais ça viendra peut-être...) sont très chouettes !
Idéal pour des répèt ou de petit gigs dans un bar, le pilotage direct par smartphone fonctionne parfaitement (avec l'appli gratuite à télécharger).
En concert, vous aurez toujours la possibilité de l'utiliser en retour et le brancher à la table grâce à la sortie DI.
En résumé, Super bon ampli de travail et une portabilité géniale (poids plume).

(edit) Cerise sur le gâteau : L'ampli est doté de patterns de batterie et d'un looper intégré. Après essai avec une électro-acoustique (mais ça marche pareil avec une basse), il s'avère que le looper est capable de piloter le beat de la batterie, ce qui est une fonction assez rare ce cette gamme de matériel ! avec l'appli en fonction, vous voyez les BPM de la batterie se caler automatiquement sur la boucle enregistrée, et la synchro est parfaite !
