This pedal's been touted as "the secret weapon of Nashville session men" etc., I bought it as an alternative to a Tube Screamer as a solo boost.
It doesn't have the vulgar mid hump of the TS, however the sound is quite uninspiring and has nothing "magical", especially if compared to a Marshall Bluesbreaker MkI or a KOT or a Land Devices HP2.
When you push the gain it sounds quite harsh, at least with my setup.
The buffer is good quality though.
