Michael Rath R4F Tenor Hagmann

This trombone produces a warm, beautiful and balanced sound, with excellent focus and tone. Going low, the sounds is dark and weighty, whilst going high is clear and not-overly brilliant or constricted (as I've found on some other brands) - all registers are easy and responsive. The Hagmann valve gives such a clean and clear flow of air, there is next to no resistance from it. The response across the whole instrument is perfect. The slide was initially heavier than I expected in weight, but upon playing this is very welcome and has precision to the movement far over and above previous experience on a Yamaha Xeno and Conn 88H. The workmanship is outstanding and exceeds what I've seen on other, similarly priced and high-end trombones. Rath are the experts for a reason and it definitely shows, feels and sounds as such with this beautiful trombone.

Bei meinem Besuch bei Thomann stand fest, dass es eine Tenorposaune mit großem Schaft werden sollte. Bisher spielte ich auf einer Bach 42 Stradivarius. Nach etlichem Ausprobieren der verschiedensten Marken (Bach, Kühnl & Hoyer, Edwards, Conn...) blieb ich bei der Michael Rath R4F Tenorposaune mit Hagmann-Ventil hängen.

Auffällig war der sehr runde und ausgeglichene Ton auf diesem Instrument in allen Lagen. In Lagen oberhalb des b1 ist der Ton sehr brilliant und keineswegs eng und piepsig. Das Hagmann-Ventil zeigte bereits beim Ausprobieren Vorteile gegenüber dem Standardquartventil einer Bach Tenorposaune. Die Töne unterhalb des großen f sprachen deutlich kräftiger und voluminöser an.

Die Verarbeitung zeigte keinerlei Mängel. Das Zugstück lief auch in diesem "Ausprobierzustand" bereits sehr gut.

In den nun drei Monaten der Nutzung der "Michael Rath" habe ich mich gut an dieses Instrument gewöhnt und der erste Eindruck hat sich gefestigt. Der Zug läuft perfekt, die Ansprache ist super und der Ton ist klasse.
