Meinl Woolly Mammoth Cajon Beater

Ho comprato questo battente per Cajon, mi serviva un suono soft. Posso dire al 100& che mi soddisfa per avere un suono soft ma mantiene comunque una parte importante di suono del battente (per chi vuole il super super soft, potrebbe ancora avere troppo suono di battente). In ogni caso molto meglio di un altro che avevo provato, la versione di battente "tubolare" a doppia faccia, che però rimaneva troppo potente.
Se suonate con Cajon, pedale e spazzole oppure a volumi ridotti, è molto efficiente.
Un downside è che ha una cucitura ad un certo punto che rende la superficie non uniforme in tutta la circonferenza e quindi anche il suono è diverso in quel punto.

The beater feels and looks like quality, and plays like that too.

It's a pity it's so short, because the soft competitors are almost double the price of this one.
But on the other hand, it doesn't matter if this will hit below center: it won't hurt your skin at all, and it's meant to be damped, quiet anyway. I used this during a few sessions and haven't seen wear signs or it being flattened on one side.
They should make this with a longer beater stick!

Bought it so I could level up my cajon-drumkit. My cajon is small, so the difference between the standard cajon beater and this one is minimal. But I tried it on a regular sized cajon, and you can hear a softer, but warmer and deeper sound coming from the cajon.

The quality is fine, and does not feel cheap or easily breakable. You can definitely get a more specific sound out of your cajon if you wish to focus on a more mellow and deep sound, like I did. This definitely is an upgrade for me!

Don't buy it for a normal kickdrum tho. It is perfectly sized for a cajon-kick pedal, but a normal bassdrum needs a longer rod.

Overal a very good buy for cajon players that need a bit more feel to their bass sound!

I bought this beater because of the shorter rod, to be able to hit the centre of an 18" floor tom converted to a bass drum. My pedal does not allow the beater to poke out at the other end, it blocks the rod at the bottom. With this beater at the lowest position it beats the centre of my 18" slightly raised kick-tom and at its highest position it hits the centre of my 22" bass drum. To my surprise, it even worked on the 22" without any internal muffling (and I do let the beater bounce back from the head).

I also tried it on a cajon, it produces a bassier but softer sound compared to my other cajon beater which has a smaller rubber head. It also activates the cajon's snare wires less. The difference is probably due to this beater hitting the cajon lower and making contact with a larger surface.

The feel of the pedal is slightly different with the huge beater head but I imagine the head could be swapped out for a different one if you just need the shorter rod but a different feel or volume.

It was about half the price of other fluffy beaters when I bought it.
