I've had this snare for a week now, and so far I'm very impressed. The sound is great, experimenting with tuning can get you many different tones from this drum, and the internal dampener (or whatever it's called) can get you a really dead sound (which I imagine will be great for recording, especially in a small room). I have only used this snare for practicing so far.

The snare wires and drum heads don't seem to be the greatest, but with a ~50 euro investment you'd be able to get it set up real nice.

The finish looks great, and I love that it has the old Ludwig badge (although it's black and white instead of the classic blue and olive.) Again, I haven't been using this snare for long, but so far it performs so much better than a 170€ piece of gear.

I would recommend this snare to someone who wants to try out a piccolo snare (which is why I bought it) or someone looking to upgrade from their second-hand, beginner-grade snare drum. If there are any cons to this drum I haven't found then yet.

Ich liebe Piccolo Snares. Auf der Suche nach einer preiswerten Snare bin ich auf die Ludwig Piccolo gestossen und nach Anhören diverser youtube Videos war ich angetan vom Sound dieser Maple Snare.
Es ist erstaunlich was diese 3'' flache Snare soundmässig alles kann. Hoch gestimmt hat sie den Knack, den man sich von so einer Snare erwartet. Aber auch im Medium und Tief Bereich klingt sie phenomänal. Ich war total überrascht wie gut sie klingt. Die Verarbeitung ist ok, der Throw-off von Ludwig ist ja bekanntermassen nicht das Mass der Dinge aber ansonsten gibts nichts zu bemängeln. Der Snare Wire Response ist ordentlich. Great value for the low price.

Agudos típicos de las piccolo.
Con un reglaje adecuado la respuesta es buena,con un sonido potente sin esfuerzo.

Als großer Fan der alten Soul und Funk Ära, habe ich eine Weile nach genau so einer snare gesucht! Habe es in Kombination mit einem Breakbeats und dazu passt die kleine snare total gut!
In einer hohen Lage ist sie richtig prägnant aber trotzdem nicht zu laut. Der Sound zwischen rimshots und ghostnotes ist sehr homogen und ausgeglichen. Einfach sehr leicht zu spielen!
Die Verarbeitung ist solide und sie fühlt sich stabil an trotz der kleineren Größe, was am Anfang ein bisschen ungewohnt war aber nach einer Weile angenehm.
In Bebop hat sie ein Touch von den Snares der cool Jazz Periode, ein bisschen Richtung philly joe Jones oder Max Roach.
