Great bass for jazz!

I bought this short scale left hand bass to play in an 'acoustic' jazz band (vox, keys, sax and bass, no drums). The bass arrived well packed and was playable more or less straight out of the box. The only change I made was to swap out the supplied strings with some nice smooth wound black nylon ones for that mellow jazzy bass sound. Would recommend!

I think it's just visuals but there is a crack behind the neck meaning quality control is of poor standards

Hergestellt in Indonesien, Verarbeitung top, Bespielbarkeit prima, mit Flatwounds ein Traum (wenn man sie mag).

Einzig die Potie-Knöpfe sind von der echt billigen Plastik-Sorte – der Marcus Miller U5, den ich mal hatte, kam damals mit Metallknöpfen, nur so als Idee – und entwickeln mit der Zeit ein wenig Spiel. Das ist ärgerlich aber nicht schlimm. Gleiches gilt für den Stecker-Eingang, der sich nach einiger Zeit zu drehen beginnt, weil man bei der Mutter innen gespart hat.

Würde den Starfire I jederzeit wieder kaufen. Oder den großen Bruder, sollte es den mal für Linkshänder geben. Seuftz.

Beautiful bass

beautiful bass and excellent value for the price. As a lefty I have limited options but I did not hesitate when I saw this GUILD beauty. It needs little adjustment but it plays well and it has a mellow jazzy Beatleshiesque tone :)
