I was looking batter drumhead replace for my Ludwig Black magic 15x5 snare drum.
The choice for of batter heads for 15? is quite narrow (I could not find any resonant snare
drumhead at this diameter at all) and I finally took standard G1 coated head althoug my personal favorite id Power Center with reverse dot. G1 is maybe the most versatile drumhead, can be tuned in many ways. I am leaning towards deeper, fuller and warmer sound and this drumhead (with some slight moongel muffling) can gove me that. Itis not ?dead? as some thicker models and can be tuned quite high and give pleasent ring and attack. It also has Level 360 collar which stabilizes drumhead to be flat on the drum shell so there is no up-down moving. That way of tuning the drum is much more easily, I would say there is no more need for tools like Drum Dial, Tension Watch and the criss-cross pattern of tuning is unnecessary.
