Dramatically quieted my recording space
soundwhiz 17.04.2021
I operate a home studio set up in a small rectangular room, 2m wide, 4m deep. I had bad reverberation and it was awful to mix in it.
I watched videos on how to fix this and was frustrated by how often delight was taken in making room treatment complicated. It felt a lot like gatekeeping. Because of this I put room treatment off for a long time.
If you feel the same way, there is no need. Buy these and just distribute them to the walls of your recording space, it's that simple. While installing them, I noticed that just a few tiles made a huge difference.
I mounted six tiles on the wall behind my setup, 2 on the door behind me, and distributed the rest on the remaining walls. I also put two in the ceiling above the sweet spot. A total of 16.
It may seem a little overkill, but let me tell you, I went and did the right thing for myself.
In order to protect my walls, and to minimize foam loss if I have to remove the tiles at some point, I cut out little square pieces of cardboard. I then applied strong double sided tape to each piece (oddly therapeutic), then spray glued the back of each. I mounted one piece in each corner of the tiles plus one in the center. After that it was just a matter of mounting them on my walls.
Pros:
-room is dead quiet
-they look amazing hanging on my dark grey walls
-the tiles exude quality that usually isn't found in this price range
-tiles feel solid but weigh very little
Cons:
-none, and I say this because I'm just an everyday person with a basic understanding of the underlying science
Conclusion: It's more interesting to buy gear that actually makes sound, but invest in room treatment and you will enjoy your future gear purchases tenfold. Top score for these tiles from me.

Small studio room - 270x270x370 m

After applying only 4 of these amazing pads, the acoustics in the room changed immediately, the reverberation reduced significantly and I was pretty amazed. Today I will install the rest 4 of them out of the bundle and I'm looking forward to even greater result. Impressive product.
