Typical DW build quality and attention to detail. In comparison to other kick drum hoop clamps, the DW clamp has a claw which fits over the edge of the hoop and the drum head collar ring, creating a very solid and stable mounting point with minimal risk of damage to the kick drum hoop.
The claw has a felt insert to help resist damage to the hoop edge, but I added a small strip of rubber in addition to give added protection to the hoop edge. I'm not sure this is really needed as it is not necessary overtighten the claw - just snug it down so that it grips the hoop securely without digging into the hoop edge.
The claw comes with an L rod (9.5mm on one side, 1/2 inch on the other), and either end can be mounted in the v-clamp on top of the claw, therefore suiting a wide variety of percussion mounts.
Helpfully, the L-rod is supplied with a hinged memory lock for the 1/12" part of the rod. This is great, but I wish that DW had also supplied a memory lock for the 9.5mm rod too.
Overall, very happy with this purchase, which is a much better solution than typical clamps which grip both flat sides of the drum hoop and which will damage the hoops eventually.

I have so often been frustrated by not being able to put things quite where my hands would like them to go, due to hardware constraints. This clamp has changed everything, meaning I can put several items straight onto my bass drum with little-to-no fuss. Totally adjustable and very easy to add onto, it's a real space and sweat saver to get things just right.
