Bought the pancake gong drum to enhance the sonic range of the kit..It works like a charm,is solidly built(the metal arch that conforms to the shell minimizes wobble and stress) and sounds perfect! Lows like a bass drum,but with significally different character,sweet and punchy at the same time.Only drawback is the factory-installed single-ply head.A double-ply head with a ring makes a big change and i would recommend it.Overall,a great addition to any kit,though a bit pricey.

Bought this item, because of the price. I love a gong drum, also had it in another setup. But this one has a better selling price. It works for me, just a double ply head on it and of we go. Tuned it very low. Live with a bassdrummic is kickass!

Die DW Design Series 20" Pancake Gong Drum hat mich wirklich überrascht! Schon nach dem auspacken sticht sofort der Look ins Auge. Die matt-schwarze Lackierung mit den wunderbar dazu passenden, Chrom Mini-Turret Böckchen passen meiner Meinung nach zu jedem Drumset. Auffällig unauffällig ist dazu die passendste Beschreibung!
Zum Sound: Schon beim ersten Schlag kommt einem das dicke Low End entgegen. Für Metaldrummer wie mich ist das Pancake Gong Drum vor einem Breakdown das perfekte Werkzeug.
Mit der der Tiefe von 2,5" und dem Durchmesser von 20" ist diese Gong Drum sehr leicht zu jedem Gig und zu jeder Bandprobe mitzunehmen und bei unterschiedlichsten Drumsets zu integrieren!
