In desperate need of better build quality to meet the quality of sound
Mr. Monkeyman 13.01.2025
Some background: I grew up in the 90s and my first encounter with sliders was a very solid 2 track DJ Mixer, bought at a local shop. Don't remember the brand, but it was solid piece of industry standard. I foolishly pawned it (at a low point in my life), but in all honesty, I can't say I miss it. I do still remember that thing vividly though...
It was build like a tank and had it still owned it, I could have given it to my son. And with some minor care, he would could have given it to his kids. Of that I am sure.
This "Collision Device" is not that mixer.
..but I wish it was. The sound is really there.
I just hope Collision Devices can up their game and start using premium components in the near future.
Pros:
+ The Fuzz is creamy, fat and versatile
+ It is a terrific (dual) filter
+ It can really scream at higher resonance levels
+ Has an agressive "Korg-like" character, found in synths like MS20 and Monologue
+ If nothing else, at least the big knobs feel solid
Cons:
- Build quality(!)
- The case is thin and lightweight (compared to guitar pedal standards)
- The sliders are unacceptably wobbly and give it a nearly toy-like feel
- At current productionvalue this should cost no more than 150 Euros
I am not paying nearly 500 euro's for build quality that reminds me of the "Harley Benton PowerPlant Junior" and neither should you.
