Beautiful large gong

This is a beautiful sounding gong that can be played softly and with increasing resonance. Easy to control and very responsive. This gong was to be used for complex soundscapes and sound journeys. The big issue is the quality control. Mine came with a pitted and scratched surface where the packaging had been perforated and some tape had been placed over the rip but the Quality controller at Thomann had not checked the product. It was delivered and I have been waiting two weeks (and still ongoing) for the issue to be resolved. Very disappointed. I have only given one star because of the quality and the poor returns process that leaves the customer waiting.

Den Gong habe ich auf einen Paiste Gong Stand 36"-40" round gehängt, passt perfekt. Um mit dem einzigen Nachteil zu beginnen, die Aufhängeseile müssen mit einem Tape gesichert werden, weil sie ob der Belastung ohne Schutz durchgescheuert würden. Offensichtlich wurde der gelieferte Gong schon getestet, weil das Seil an den Aufhängestellen schon ausgefranst war. Das hat Thomann aber im Vorfeld berücksichtigt und großzügig im Vorfeld abgegolten. Die Klangqualität ist, wie von Zildjian (ich spiele ausschließlich diese Becken) nicht anders zu erwarten, hervorragend. Das Klangbild ist sehr ausgewogen. Bei einem Gong erwartet man sich keine feinen, ziselierten Höhen, dieser Gong hat sie. Das Soundgemisch der tiefen Frequnzen ist durchaus harmonisch. Fazit: Wer sein Schlachtzeug um ein (auch optisch ansprechendes) feature erweitern will, ist mit dem Teil gut beraten. Ich vermute, dass es auch für Orchester eine gute Wahl ist.
