Not so bright, but I need this sound, it great to play all music, and it very cool, I think, soon I will order another one mouthpiece for me

Perfect loud mouthpiece!

I bought this mouthpiece and with a V16 or ZZ strength 3 reed I got a perfect loud and rich sound. Compared to the hardrubber mouthpieces, this one does not forgive problems of embouchure, thus I won't consider it a beginner's mouthpiece.

This one is really easy to play out of tune or squeak if one does not have the proper technique. On this mouthpiece, altissimos come really easy and there is no need for doing a great pressure on the embouchure.

I tried a Theo Wanne "Durga 3; Size 8" as well and for me, as an amateur, the "fire" is good enough for everything I need. This mouthpiece is already luxury. I recommend this only if you either need to be loud or if you want this cutting sound in your repertoire, this is a no-go mouthpiece for classical or chamber music.

Je viens de recevoir ce bec Theo WANNE N°8 pour alto.
Je joue depuis très longtemps du sax ténor. J'ai un mark VI avec un Beg LARSEN 95 2. Ensemble très satisfaisant, je fais du funk/disco.
J'ai fait l'acquisition d'un sax alto depuis peu pour renforcer la section cuivres de mon groupe et j'ai dû choisir un nouveau bec. Ce N°8 de Théo WANNE est trop ouvert pour moi. J'ai essayé pendant trois jours et je trouve trop de différence de confort par rapport au Berg LARSEN.
On m'avez prévenu de catte difficulté et c'est pour cela que je ne voulais pas m'équiper de la même marque.
Je vais donc retourner ce N°8 et le remplacer par un N°7.
J'espère que cela conviendras mieux.

Great mouthpiece with some quality issues

Great bright sound, easy response. Plays with less resistance than comparable tip size would suggest. Ligature is good but not great, I changed it to Liberty ligature and it is much better. Finishing quality has some issues, it has sharp edge on one side rail and a burr from cnc machining at round curve part of the window. They don’t affect the playability but should not be there at this price point. I did not bother changing it because I have tried 5 Theo Wanne pieces so far and only one of them was perfect quality without flaws. So apparently some quality issues are considered normal.
