Tech 21 OMG

Non un semplice pedale con il suo nome stampato sopra, l?Overdrive Signature OMG Richie Kotzen è stato sviluppato grazie ad un intenso sforzo di collaborazione. Richie, che ha orecchie come un pipistrello, è stato incredibilmente meticoloso riguardo ad ogni dettaglio di questo overdrive. Ci sono voluti molti prototipi per ottenere che l?OMG suonasse ed avesse il feeling che Richie voleva. Non a caso prende il nome da una delle sue canzoni, "Oh My God", che è anche la tipica esclamazione di chiunque senta o veda suonare Richie per la prima volta! Completamente analogico, l'OMG ha un unico stadio di distorsione, leggermente asimmetrica, che emulauno amplificatore valvolare in Classe A, ma con una risposta più definita, più veloce e più brillante. È statoprogettato per articolare ogni sfumatura del vertiginoso stile musicale di Richie. insieme all?overdrive, l?OGM è anche dotato di un Boost con switch separato e indipendente, che può essere utilizzato per saturare ulteriormente l?ingresso dell?OMG, quando attivo, oppure come clean boost indipendente fino a 28dB nella sua massima regolazione.100% circuito analogico!

Ora passiamo al parere personale. L'OMG è un pedale fantastico, versatilissimo. Per essere un overdrive è molto potente, però si possono ottenere moltissime combinazioni anche grazie al boost.

Tried a bunch of distortion pedals before : boss ds-1, ds-2, ds-1 keeley modded. mt-2. carl martin plexitone, digitech, etc. This quite pricey compared to other alternatives, but nothing too much. In terms of performance here comes the "too much" thing. Infinite sustain, extra boost function that works great separately and cleans up nicely (although it is not very dynamic when cleaned up). Sounds like a hot rodded Marshall amp and works great with single coil guitars. The girth button comes really in handy when playing different amps. Although the sound is marketed as a modern take on a Marshal amp, in my ears it fits more in the 80s era since the sound gets a bit trebly at some settings (not in a bad way though). In my opinion, this pedal would be a perfect match for american style amplifiers. It may be a signature pedal but it is really versatile. Works also great before a speaker sim pedal.
