The best Squier you can buy

Bought this as a "travelling" guitar: I move around the world for work a lot and wanted something cheap that I wouldn't mind getting damaged or having to abandon. I also wanted a discount Tom DeLonge strat.

And, boi oh boi, what a surprise. This guitar is EXTREMELY fun to play, and it sounds great. The neck finish is the best I've ever held in my hands, it's the most silken satin feel I've ever glided over.

The humbucker does it job very well, and it can even be played on clean with alright results if you dial the volume down on thr guitar.

The neck is also generally very well assembled, no burrs or anything on the frets except on frets 14+, topside only.

Now, the downsides (although most of these apply to any newly bought guitar, really):

- the bottom strap nut came off after one day. Fixed with the toothpicks trick.

- the humbucker needs to be lowered a bit, otherwise all you'll hear is the screeching from bottom three strings

- ALL the screws need to be tightened

- the tuners need tightening too

- the saddles need adjusting for action and tuning (the whole fretboard was buzzing, out of the box)

- the fretboard feels rough and "dry". ILemon oil'd the hell out of it.

- The volume knob is too close to the strings, and spins too loosely, so I keep changing the volume by accident. This is probably the single most annoying con of this guitar.

The upsides:

- Thin body, lightweight.

- Single bridge HB is so fun and sounds fantastic. Easy to swap in an invader or P90, too. And it will force you to adapt your strumming, if you want to get a different sound, rather than using different pickups or tone combinations.

- Great neck.

- Stays in tune incredibly well.

- Easy and fun to play.

- Looks sick!

- Price. Unbelievable.

I'm in love with this. It's instantly become my main guitar.

Out of the box the guitar looked fine to me. First thing i noticed is the neck had sharp fret ends. That was a quick fix with a fine sanding paper.
Tuners feel solid, not upgrading these for now.
Bridge feels solid.
I always search for lightweight guitars and this one with 2,8kg is super comfortable for me
Plugging it in for the first time it sounded okay, maybe a bit harsh.
I allready had my mind set on a humbucker upgrade, and for me that was the whole point to buy this guitar.
Sounds killer now!

Günstige Single Humbucker Strat

Wer eine spartanisch Strat für Rock/Metal sucht, ohne viel Schnickschnack, ist hier genau richtig. Single Humbucker, Volume, Tone und Toploader - Fixed Bridge (selten!). Kleiner Fender Headstock. Leicht und wohl geformt, Hals sowie Body. Haptik super. Lackierung sieht auch sauber aus.

Die Verarbeitung ist in dem Preissegment vollkommen in Ordnung. Intonation und Saitenlage waren sehr gut eingestellt ab Werk. Das Griffbrett war ein wenig trocken und die Bünde an den Seiten nicht ganz so fein abgerundet. Da musste man ein wenig nachbessern.
Cool ist, dass unter dem Pickguard weitere Fräsungen versteckt sind und nicht nur die Humbuckerfräsung. So kann man in Zukunft vielleicht Modifikationen vornehmen.
Die Toploader- Bridge (statt String-Thru) macht an der Strat erstmal einen ungewohnten Eindruck. Mir ist soundtechnisch kein Unterschied aufgefallen. Nur das Gefühl, dass der Korpus weniger schwingt. Beim Neubesaiten aber deutlich angenehmer, da man die Gitarre nicht umdrehen muss ;) .

Der Humbucker hat gut Dampf. Messung: 17.4 kOhm. Vielleicht ein wenig mumpfelig im Vergleich zu teureren, aber vollkommen okay. Tauschen ist ja kein Problem.

Die Mechaniken machen einen ordentlichen Eindruck. Sie haben kaum Spiel und laufen flüssig. Stimmsicherheit im Wohnzimmer gut, aber auf der Bühne? Klar, auch hier kann man Irgendwann mal nachbessern.

Rundum eine schöne und gut verarbeitete Gitarre. Nicht nur für Anfänger, sondern auch für Leute wie mich, die eigentlich nur 7-Strings spielen und ab und zu gerne zu einer spartanischen 6-String Strat greifen.

Tolle Gitarre!

Eine tolle, optisch sehr schöne und günstige Gitarre, auf der es schlicht Spaß macht zu spielen. Wer Metal oder Punkrock mag und mit einer gewissen Schlichtheit umgehen kann (Single Humbucker, Hardtail), ist mit dieser Gitarre gut beraten. Für mich machen aber genau diese Eigenschaften einen großen Teil des Reizes dieser Gitarre aus.

Die Verarbeitung wirkt gut - gerade für die Preisklasse. Und in natura sieht die Squier Sonic Strat noch besser aus als auf dem Bild.

Die einzige Kleinigkeit, die ich auf hohem Niveau anmerken möchte, ist, dass bei meinem Modell noch einige Bünde etwas abgerundet werden müssen - was aber schnell getan ist.

Ob für Anfänger oder Fortgeschrittene: von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung!
