Paiste 22" 900 Series Ride

In the live setting my Paiste PST5 20 rock ride works fine but noticed some un-musical overtones when recording. You can make inexpensive drums sound good, unfortunately not so with cymbals (or whatever you want to call them). looking for the Pro sound the 900 series price/performance ratio is too good too miss. The ping is defined the bell loud and clean with the wash just amazing. It really is in and of itself a fine instrument. When they become available buy before stock runs out! They really are that good.

Gosh, it's obnoxiously loud!
But good for rock and metal types of music.

Good ping, a lot of high overtones, especially on the bell. Very hard to crash, but when it does crash, it hums for eternity.
It can feel a bit harsh in person, but actually sounds really balanced and professional under the microphones.
Overall: 4/5, Definitely not versatile, a bit loud and harsh for rehearsals, but good for heavier music, good for gigs and recordings.

I was looking for a cymbal to play stoner, so that I could hit it with the side of the stick for heavy wash, but at the same time it would have a ping when hit with the tip.
This suits great my case, keeping the typical Paiste sound. If you are looking for a warm wash cymbal this is probably not the best choice, but a great compromise between ping and wash.
another pro, is that the bell sound is very full and not too bright!
