The Adamas, what an instrument

For almost 40 years I have played Ovation guitars, owning 2 non USA and 2 USA models in all wood tops. All the time aspiring to owning an Adamas model, the ultimate guitar built by this iconic and unique brand. Beautiful instrument with a solid build, meticulously finished, with a sound like no other. Plenty of acoustic kick from the deep bowl despite only half the sound holes as the non-cutaway. Plugged in, this guitar cuts through the mix and can always be found regardless of what else is going on. Pluck, Finger pick, strum gentle, strum hard, it doesn't matter which, this guitar responds and resounds. I cannot stop picking it up. My new workhorse and stage companion.

Abgesehen vom fehlenden Handbuch (Pflegehinweise, Beschreibung Preamp...) und einem einfachen Zertifikat, das kopiert daherkommt und an der Echtheit der Eintragagungen zweifeln läßt, ist die Gitarre auch optisch gewöhnungsbedürftig. Die "geschnitzten" Kopfplatte und Steg wirken eher gepresst und die rauhe Decke widerspricht Allem, was ich so von hochglanzlackierten Holzdecken bis dato vernommen hatte. Auch die "gekordelte" Deckenaufhängung erinnert eher an Omas Sofakissen...

Gleichwohl - ich bin selbst ein bißchen speziell und habe mir das spezielle Teil gezielt ausgesucht. Und tatsächlich liegt sie mir von Anfang an sehr gut in der Hand (und auf dem Bein). Das Klangvolumen ist großartig und variiert am Steg von eher dünn und hart aber vollumfänglich zu voll und bassstark Richtung Griffbrett. Je nach Härte des Anschlags resonniert die Decke weich oder fast blechern, leise oder laut, aber immer präzise. Unsaubere Griffe werden sofort deutlich hörbar bestraft.

Mich haben die "Samsonite-Koffer" schon lange überzeugt. Dies ist nun meine dritte und sie übertrifft sowohl meine Deep-Bowl als auch meine jüngste Mid-Depth-Bowl bei weitem.

Wäre da nicht der weit überzogene Preis, mit dem man wohl auch einen Teil der Entwicklungskosten wieder einspielen will, wäre es ein guter Kauf.

Wenn man schon aus Ovation eine Edelmarke Adamas ausgliedert, dann sollte man diese nicht in einem Ovation-Koffer verkaufen - es sei denn das soll dunkle "Interessenten" verwirren, dann ist es natürlich recht schlau... ;o)
