1. Low noise (it really has a much lower noise floor than other EQs I had and that was the main reason for me to look into the new silver MXR EQs.

2. Very easy to handle but of course you need to know how to use an EQ.

3. I'd have wished the overall unit would have had an output volume control but it's okay.

4. Can't say anything about the quality yet but so far it feels sturdy.

5. Some people complain about the LEDs being to bright: They are bright but not TOO bright.

Great EQ, love it.

Works like a charm. No hiss or other noises. I use it in the effects loop to boost my solo's. Thought I'd need the full 20db, but a 6-9 db boost in 2-3 of the mid bands is more than enough to bust through the mix.
Other than that, the build quality is excellent, the led's are very bright and the faders are tight and won't move by accident if you kick it by accident or something. Good stuff!

I have 2 of these. One at home and one on my main pedal board at my rehearsal space. On my main board I use it in the loop to boost up solos, take the top up a little to cut through the mix. At home I also use it in the loop but in a different way. I just use it as an eq on top of the eq in the amp( a Peavey classic 30 in this case. I have also used it in the loop of a Orange TH 30 combo and it just brought that amp to life.
There is not a better eq out there for this price. Buy one!

An EQ pedal is a super handy tool in any guitar setup, and this MXR M109S is definitely one of the better ones: simple, compact, powerful, noise-free and stylish. I directly compared it to the Boss GE-7 and Maxon GE601, and despite the absence of a level slider (alas, that means no volume boost duties) I liked the MXR *so* much better. Its sound is really top notch: transparent and musical. Highly recommended! PS: I love that sleek industrial look with the blue leds.
