One of the best mic stands I'd ever had
Anonimo 27.03.2017
First of all something about my person: I am sound engineer for smaller companies and a few professional bands. Although most of the venues have very good PA systems, I bring all my mics, stands and tools by myself. Therefore I always have the right tools to mix the show and do not have to use cheap or bad microphones from the local guy.
The K&M 233 BK is the best microphone stand for me in concerns of micing bass drums, guitar or bass amps, snare drum, floor tom or even woodwind and brass instruments like saxophone.
The stand itself is perfect for micing theatre venues. Therefore I position them directly downstage and equip them with good condenser mics.
In addition I use one of K&M boom arms to expand the stand and make it very adjustable for instrument micing.

On the contrary the main problem with the cast-iron base is that you have to screw them out after every gig and tie them together next time. I had several broken mic stands (cheaper ones, not K&M) who broke down after a ride in the trailer.

All in all I learned, that the K&M stuff is worth money, especially because of its expandability and durability. I will never ever buy cheap microphone stands again.

Great product!
kcmy 02.06.2013
I've used these as desk speaker stands with both Genelec 8020 (with stand plate) and Focal CMS50 active monitors for years and they are just the ticket - I've subsequently bought more of them for my staff and for my home studio.

They're sturdy enough to securely take the weight of small to medium sized monitors whilst retaining their set height, but they also have a reasonable footprint that doesn't take up too much desk space. The rubber seal on the base provides both grip and a little bit of acoustic isolation, but it can mark light surfaces if dragged across them (nothing permanent, just an FYI).

I'm sure they'd work great as a mic stand - K&M's products are solid enough and reasonably priced - but I haven't used them for that purpose.

High quality stand
6000 09.01.2021
While its primary function is microphone stand, I use as a mount for my Avantone MixCube (with 3/8 to 5/8 adapter) and it works great. It's heavy, very well-made and great for my purposes.
