Kala U-Bass Solid Body AB 70th

L'ho comprato principalmente per avere uno strumento veramente portatile, che stesse nel bagagliaio della mia auto, fiducioso della qualità promessa dal bran Kala.
Sono rimasto sorpreso dalla qualità costruttiva e dal suono, che nell'uso quotidiano lascia poco a desiderare rispetto ad un basso di dimensioni standard. Ottima anche la suonabilità e mi aspetto che migliori quando mi sarò adattato meglio alla dimensione dei tasti oltre il dodicesimo.
L'accordatura richede un po' più di tempo ma, una volta accordato, tiene bene.
Prima o poi mi assicurerò anche la versione fretless.

I was rather surprised by this little one. I bought it just for kicks and to have something small to carry to improv nights and such. It definitely gets the job done.

Despite it's smaller size, it performs as wel as any of it's bigger brothers. The tone is typical for a P-bass and it plays smoothly. No rough edges anywhere. The bag's a bit of a tight fit, but does the job well.

If there is a downside to this little bass it is that some tuners don't like it. I read that this is due to the shorter scale of the instrument and the length of the strings and not some defect on the instrument itself. Just something to keep in mind.
Oh, and play with it a bit before you go on stage. You'll want to get used to the scale. Not that it's awkward in any way. It's just really really really short and getting used to it a bit before playing live is recommended.

Other than that, this one's a keeper.

War auf der Suche nach einem mini Bass für meinen kleinen Sohn zum Spielen. War extra bei Thomann vor Ort um mal zu testen was es so zur Auswahl gibt.

Kala Bässe haben wirklich einen fetten Sound, klingen schön P-Bass mäßig und fett. Hätte auch einen kleinen ticken weniger fett sein dürfen, aber das kann man meistens mit Amp und co. noch nachregulieren.

Optik, naja find das Design nicht so ansprechend, dieser hier wirkt aber noch am zeitlosesten und hat eine natürliche Optik.
Der Kopf wirkt auch ein wenig komisch proportioniert.

Spielgefühl ist gut, Verarbeitung und Saitenlage sind auch top. Die Saiten fühlen sich im Vergleich mit z.B. den mini Bässen von Flight nur etwas dicker an.

Fazit, toller Bass mit tollem Preis/Leistungsverhältnis.

Habe den Bass getestet gegen den Flight Jazz Bass (mein persönlicher Favorit, leider ein wenig lascher Sound und gefühlt 100-200 Euro zu Teuer)
Und einen günstigeren Flight Bass der mir so gar nicht zugesagt hat.
Gleichzeitig hat er sich wegen der Optik gegen einen roten Kala durchgesetzt, wobei dieser rote auch top gewesen wäre.
