Kala U-Bass Bamboo 4 NT

I was a bit hesitant getting the bamboo model because there weren't any proper sound demos available at the time of purchase. I got the bamboo for two reasons: one is that it seems to be more resistant to dry winter conditions than many other woods, other is that is environmentally more sustainable. It also looks really nice.

I'm glad I bought it, the sound was actually better than expected. Even volume on every string, no buzzing, and it sounds even better when plugged in (straight into mixer). It's also really nice played acoustically which is how I play it most of the time.

The polyurethane strings can get sticky but if you don't like them you can always replace them. I love them for their sound.

Ein kleiner Bass mit großem Spaßfaktor.
Ein Ukulele-Bass ist natürlich kein Großer, aber sein kleines Format macht sicher einen großen Teil des Spaßes aus. Handlich, tragbar, reisetauglich. Der Sound ist für mich überraschend präsent, selbst unplugged sind alle Saiten gleich laut, sehr gut hörbar und machen das Spiel auch ohne Verstärker absolut möglich.
Die Verarbeitung ist tadellos. Da rappelt nichts. Keine Nasen, keine Macken.
Die Optik ist vielleicht ein bisschen gewöhnungsbedürftig: alle verbauten Holzteile sind aus Bambus und von einheitlicher heller Färbung. Der nachwachsende Rohstoff ist ein doppeltes Plus für dieses schöne Instrument. Die Maserung ist unaufgeregt und doch lebhaft genug um einen gefälligen optischen Eindruck zu erzeugen. Der Boden ist gewölbt und trägt zum guten Sounderlebnis bei.
Der eingebaute Tuner erleichtert das Stimmen mit den leichtgängigen Mechaniken sehr und funktioniert einwandfrei.
Der beigefügte Gigbag ist sauber verarbeitet und gepolstert. Er wird den U-Bass auf Reisen gut schützen.
Ob ich einen Cutaway vermissen werde? Augenblicklich nicht.

Un U-bass es ideal para mi por su tamaño, posibilidad de conectarlo y también de tocar cómodamente en cualquier sitio. Kala es la mejor marca, sin dudas, sin embargo creo que he tenido mala suerte, por lo que voy a devolverlo, seguramente compre uno distinto. La cuerda G pierde afinación a medida que se acerca a la octava, La cuerda E muy poco brillo, el sonido es algo sordo. Además, al conectarlo, la cuerda E tiene menor volumen, el micro no lo capta bien. En fin, he tenido mala suerte... He puesto 3 estrellas en el sonido porque no es mal instrumento, eso si... tengo mis dudas si la poca resonancia se debe al bambú o no. Entre todo no me a convencido e iré a por otro.
