My Gretsch Electromatic G5124 was in this case when a fire broke out in my house. It didn't get burnt but was in a room where everything was severely smoke damaged and when I recovered it, it had a couple of millimetres of black sooty gunk all over it. Fearing the worst I opened the lid, to find my guitar absolutely unscathed and in perfect condition. It was even still in tune! A quick jet wash later the case looks a little worse for wear, but it's still keeping my baby safe.

Moral of the story - get a decent case for your beloved axe.

I purchased this case for my Gretsch G5420T.

First impressions - wow, it is worth every penny!

It is made by TKL cases, so the same people who make Martin cases.

The red lining is amazing. The guitar fits inside perfectly. It is very much like an acoustic guitar hard case - which makes sense as it is for hollow body guitars!

The brass Gretsch logo looks sublime. First time I used the case our backing singing commented on it - she said I need a case for the case. I cannot fault it in any way it truly is an amazing product. It makes my guitar look like it is worth a lot more than it is.

So Finally, if you are unsure about spending this much money on a case - do it! I was a bit concerned too but it is stunning. Think of it as in investment. If you are carrying around your ~£650 guitar in a bag it is going to cost a lot more than the cost of this case to repair any damage that may occur.

Very good fit for my G5422TG. The fit and finish are top quality, and the weight is as expected for a hard case of this type. The accessory pocket is big enough for a set of strings, string winder, tuner, capo, tin of picks, slide and other small stuff, but too small for a good leather strap or instrument cable (which is fine by me).

I got this for my Gretsch G5422tdc in walnut and what a perfect match. The guitar sits comfortably in the plush red interior which smells of playdough (as did my Gibson case when I got that). No idea why, but it is nice. The black exterior with the curved front and the gold catches looks very expensive and when you open it up to find your Gretsch nestled perfectly inside - it warms the heart!

I haven't taken it out yet but pending a years worth of gigging, first impressions are very impressive.

This case, utterly traditional and the sort that in the good old days, you use to get when buying a new guitar as part of the price, is just what I was looking for. It would not prevent your newly beloved instrument getting mashed if an elephant doing a tap dance routine on top of it was to take place but for normal usage, it is far more armoured than a gig bag. The inside pocket is also useful and I would certainly recommend it. Afterall, a great guitar needs a great case.
