Graph Tech PT-4025-00 Black TUSQ XL Blank

I am a luthier and have been building guitars for 10 years now. I've used all sorts of materials for a nut, but my personal favorite would have to be Graph Tech. Looks great on a guitar, it's easy to work with - sands easily and the self-lubricating is no gimmick - never had a string break or get stuck - tonal transference is optimal - What's not to like about it.

I noticed a decent improvement in the tone and sustain for open notes. My guitar is usually very warm sounding, so the nut brightened up a bit to my liking.

I needed something for my custom build 6-String bass with super long scale. The original bone nut worked fine but had to be lubricated from time to time. Compared to bone, the TUSQ XL material is harder and takes a bit more filing-effort to shape. Absolutely worth the extra effort and lubricates itself. Thumbs up!

Bought it for a client's Schecter 7-string. Very very easy to work with, to the point where if you're used to bone, you have to be pretty careful with string grooves, as my files go through this like butter. Generally strings glide easily through these, and they last a good while, the only point of content is their use of PFTA, a forever chemical which is the very thing that makes it "non-slip", the same chemical used in teflon. Generally try and avoid this stuff, unless someone asks specifically.

Very greate upgrade for the stok ones for color and quality

High quality nut block for luthiers. Self lubrication and improved tuning stability is noticeable on my Jackson JS22-7 guitar compared to the factory installed plastic nut. There is however a slight increase on high frequencies and upper mids on your overall guitar sound which is normal when you go from plastic to TUSQ material.
