great guitar, but it will need a proper setup before it can actually shine

It's a great guitar, especially if you consider the price range compared to other jazzmaster guitars. It sounds great and it feels pretty good to play, but the bridge is really problematic (lots of buzzing and strings popping out of place) and the shielding is non-existent, therefore resulting in a lot of ground noise (even with the switch in middle position, which should eliminate most of the noise).
Ater a proper setup the neck and the action feel much better (the factory setup felt very rough to be honest, sloppy job on Fender's side / QC check) and also the bridge is now sort of usable, though I still may end up switching it with a better one (like the M1 Mastery Bridge). As for the shielding, after a nice layer of graphite paint in the cavity and below the pickguard, it is now extremely quiet!
In short: great guitar, but you will need to do some additional work to really get it there - still, I think it's worth it because it will sound as good as any guitar which costs twice as much while the additional work that's needed is still not going to make it that expensive

Wer so eine Gitarre kauft, will keine Paula, keine SG, auch keine Tele oder Strat. Sondern genau sowas.
Man kann wie J Mascis rocken (Dinosaur Jr) oder wie Rowland S. Howard jaulen (okay, der hatte eine Jaguar, aber trotzdem).
Die tiefe und die hohe E-Saite habe geschnarrt, aber zwei Drehungen am Steg-Reiter, und fertig.
Der Tremolo-Hebel wird nicht reingeschraubt, sondern nur gesteckt. Man gewöhnt sich aber dran.
Tausend Knöpfe und Schieberegler - nötig wären sie nicht, aber ohne würde etwas fehlen.
Hatte schonmal eine Fender Jazzmaster, hatte zu viele Gitarren, und sie kam weg. Hat aber gefehlt. Jetzt ist wieder eine da. Hallelujah.
Ein passendes Tweed-Case wäre das Sahnehäubchen.

The guitar is very well made, perfectly finished frets, the neck is very comfortable to play, and with a very successful pickups to that characteristic timbre in the middle position with both pickups activated, as a curiosity, it weighs a little more compared to my other 6 Jazzmasters, except for an original that I have from 1974, but rest assured that it does not weigh like a Les Paul.
The only drawback, in my case, which can be solved with a screwdriver and a ruler, is that the pickups came a little bit higher than they should and saturated a little bit, but as soon as I lowered them to their place they sound great.
It also has that wonderful desert sand color, color that was applied to Fender Music Master and Duo Sonic guitars in the mid 50's and never used in Jazzmasters that gives it a very personal touch.
If you are looking for the essence of a Fender Jazzmaster from the late 50's, early 60's this is your guitar.
