DiMarzio DP422 BK Injector Neck

Fits really well on my 1990 Ibanez RG 760 with the Ibanez V2 (Super Distortion clone) in the bridge. I was actually happy with the stock single coils but due to elevated EM noise in my new home I had to get something noiseless. And the Injector delivers. It is dead quiet, much quieter even than the humbucker!
I previously tried one of the Area stacked single coils, and while it did vintage sounds well, it didn't really go well with the bridge humbucker. Much too bright and not enough output. Rather disappointed I asked DiMarzio support and they recommended the Injector.
There is a bit of a harshness to its sound, which can be tamed by rolling off the tone pot a little if needed. But I found that it actually works quite well for soloing with distortion; it sort of makes for a very precise feeling. No wonder Paul Gilbert uses these. But even with tone on 7, there's still enough treble left to give a little shimmer to clean sounds. But don't expect SRV like sizzle or Cory Wong like quack. Power strat is the name of the game here.
The flimsy wiring is a bit of a downer. The wires are super thin; a wrapper would have been useful. Likewise, the plastic cap feels cheap; The mounting screws of my Ibanez were slipping right through the soft plastic. and I had to get creative to fix that.
In conclusion, once installed, the Injector makes for an excellent noise-free power-strat sound.
